Notes for Henrietta "Clay" Bassore:
Clay Gideon inherited her husband James Gideon's estate in Brownwood, Texas in 1881. Where she
went and what she did is a mystery after that point. Family history says she was a madam in a brothel
when her two daughters were young. This is un-proven. Her name is listed as H C Baker in her
daughter Mollie's bible.

Bassore File

Above are three of the children of Lemuel Bassore and Martha Pleasants.  Left to Right are Demaris, Henrietta Clay and William.

I was fortunate to find (or be found by) one of William's descendents.  Bobbie Bassore and we met in Missouri a couple of years ago.  We visited with Judy Hudson  (who is my mother's first cousin).

Shortly after that, I was contacted by descendents of Susan Dora Gideon Vann and they identified the above photo of Henrietta Clay.  I had the photo from my grandmother but didn't know who it was since it wasn't marked.  Here's the Vann girls and my lovely Aunt Dot (photo on the right)
