In the 1940s Modes
Royale Pattern books were printed in both English and French, by the
50's most copies you find are in English only. The art work
and designs are spectacular in the glossy and slick magazines.
The patterns themselves came in plain mail order type envelopes with
no frills or colors on the envelopes. But the books are a true
treasure to behold. The covers advertise that the patterns
inside are for the Average Woman. Well, most Average women of
the day really didn't wear this complicated and sophisticated
designs.
But they sure are
fun to look at.
